Debbie
Daly is the founder of Tucson Yoga and a co-owner. She opened the studio
in 2003
with a vision to provide a low-cost, community-oriented yoga center.
Debbie
has studied yoga and meditation in several different traditions since 1995, and
began teaching in 1999. Her path has included Bikram, Anusara, Viniyoga and Iyengar Yoga. In recent years her yoga classes draw from a fusion of influences. She is largely inspired by the asana and philosophy teachings of Natasha Korshak and Rama Vernon, the Taoist Yoga teachings Paul Grilley, and the Vipassana and Mindfulness teachings of Jack Kornfield and of Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Debbie's classes are flowing, with a focus on mindfulness and on using one's intuition. She's attuned to the needs of students with limitations and/or injuries, and offers modifications different body types. She treats students to a long, guided deep relaxation at the end of each class, with progressive body relaxation and healing chants.
The connection between compassionate living and yoga is one of the founding principles Debbie has brought to Tucson Yoga. She believes that a cruelty-free, animal-free diet is an essential part of yoga practice, in the context of today's animal farming practices. Behind Tucson Yoga's mission is her belief that a regular yoga, meditation, or spiritual practice will keep people feeling whole within themselves, and that this alone will inspire lifestyle choices that are increasingly kind to oneself, to others, and to the earth.
Debbie is also a singer and musician. She spends most of her time in Northern California while continuing to support the day-to-day operations of Tucson Yoga. Her personal website is www.debbiedaly.com. |
