Farewell to Two of Our Teachers
June 10, 2008
This month, we're losing two long-time Tucson Yoga teachers: Sarah Cotten and Jim Lipson. We wish them the best as they move on to other things, and we thank them both wholeheartedly for their years of weekly dedication to their classes.
Sarah Cotton
Last class on Friday, June 20, 5:30-7:00 pm Vinyasa
With a second baby coming in October, Sarah is cutting down on her teaching schedule and letting go of her long-time Friday class. Sarah has been with Tucson Yoga since 2004 and her wonderful teaching has been an inspiration to many of us. Best wishes to Sarah as she moves into this new phase of life. She'll continue teaching Yoga for Pregnancy at Anjali.
Sarah will be replaced by Julie Baron from June 27 to August 1st, after which Michelle Marks will take the class over permanently, starting August 8th.
Jim Lipson
Last class: Sunday, June 22, 8:00-9:15am Mixed-Level
Our warm thanks and appreciation go to Jim for all his valuable teaching and his commitment to this class for several years. Jim's regular $5 yoga class years ago was one of the inspirations for Tucson Yoga, and he was owner Debbie Daly's first yoga teacher when she started practicing in 1997. He'll continue to teach his ongoing classes at the Providence Institute.
The Sunday 8am class is being discontinued after Jim's last class on the 22nd, since the timeslot has not been well-attended. We know that many students seek out these smaller yoga classes purposefully, and may be disappointed. A little-known fact is that half of Tucson Yoga's regular classes have average attendance of 15 students or less. If you want to know when these classes are, check our list of average class sizes here.
